3D Heritage Generator
Turning 2D archives into immersive 3D cultural experiences across the Apple ecosystem
THE
PROBLEM
The Ministry provided large 2D image datasets of cultural heritage objects. Our task was to convert these into accurate, interactive 3D models and make them accessible across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Vision Pro, and web, all within just a few days.
OUR
APPROACH
We built a custom algorithm that generates 3D models from 2D images and developed a full iOS app ecosystem with a website showpiece. The app includes AR features that let users place and interact with models anywhere, creating an educational and engaging experience. The website works as an educational showcase for schools and museums.
IMPACT
PROCESS
DATA ANALYSIS
Explored 2D image datasets, identified inconsistencies, and planned reconstruction paths
ALGORITHM DEVELOPMENT
Built a custom 3D reconstruction pipeline from 2D images
APP & WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT
Developed full iOS app ecosystem and educational website showcase
AR INTEGRATION
Implemented AR features allowing users to place and interact with models
OPTIMIZATION
Enhanced performance for real-time 3D rendering across devices
LAUNCH & PRESENTATION
Deployed platform and presented to judges, winning first prize
This project set a new benchmark for digital heritage engagement. The team transformed 2D archives into interactive 3D experiences across the Apple ecosystem, which is truly impressive for a hackathon timeline.
